  1. DK, The Haitian Revolution forcefully prpleloed the independence movements throughut Latin America.Spain and and France were allies and once France lost its power fighting the Haitians, Spain also was weakened. Latin American nations took advantage of Spain’s weakness and they all declared their independence. Gritos (Cry for independence ) were heard throught the hemisphere. And every one of the prf3ceres , liberated the slaves . Men like Dessalines communicated with Simon Bolivar( the Great Liberator) in Latin America history. Here in the States the founding fathers(Washington, Jefferson, etc) did not have the guts to do the right thing and free the slaves, therefore, in my opinion they are not on the level with Touissant L’Ouverture, Jean- Jacques Dessalines, Simon Bolivar, Bernardo Higgins, Francisco Miranda , etc. Last but not least, the 1804 Haitian Revolution hastened the end of slavery throughout the Americas. After the Haitian Rebellion, no slaveowner in the Americas was able to sleep soundly at night because they knew their days of being owners of human beings were numbered.Haiti was never recognized as nation state by the small international community of that time until the 20th century. All those years of being isolated and ostracized has hindered its natural developement. I find it ironic that Pat Robertson would say Haitians made a pact with the devil for their liberation. The Atlantic Slave Trade and all those who were involved and profitted from it made a pact with the devil. My question to Pat Robertson is :What evil spirit did the American founding fathers make a pact with? Years ago, here in the States, many non-Haitian blacks carried this contempt towards Haitians. Yes, not only Dominicans, but West Indians, African Americans, and many black people hated Haitians. All of them have forgotten that it was the Haitian Revolution that really brought freedom to all blacks in this hemisphere. I always told them, what we call las cuatro verdades (the four truths). Most of the contempt they had for Haitians was because to them Haitians represented too much a close representation of African and most could not handle that. I hope now the international community, especially Latin America and blacks of the Americas have the guts to make a serious committment in helping Haitians rebuild their country. We all owe Haiti so much. Finally, like the phoenix, Haitians will rise from the ashes and rebuild a new Haited. Saludos a todos,Ana
